“Better days”

Thank goodness we are not entering winter as we go into our third week of lockdown.

It feels almost obscene to be enjoying the sunshine and quiet as people are fighting for their lives at the hospital further along our road.

I’ve tried to avoid the dispiriting dystopian images of deserted city centres, but I wouldn’t be recording reality if I didn’t depict Kingston shopping centre, one of the biggest in London, on what would normally be a busy Sunday lunchtime.

These rainbow drawings of children have become a symbol of this crisis.

It is a joy to see them play from our window.

The contrails have largely gone over Heathrow, but some planes are still flying.

Our first virtual pub quiz. We did not do very well.

We broke off to watch the Queen’s calm address to the nation, assuring us “Better days will return.”
