Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron and Sarah Olney MP for Richmond Park and North Kingston launched their campaign for the British general election in Richmond this morning (Wednesday April 19).
Farron told supporters that Theresa May was using Brexit as an excuse to increase her Commons majority, taking advantage of the poor state of the Labour Party.
But he said it was an opportunity to change the direction of the country: “If you want to avoid a disastrous Hard Brexit. If you want to keep Britain in the Single Market. If you want a Britain that is open, tolerant and united, this is your chance.”
